Greenhouse effect gases have always existed in variable concentrations in the atmosphere, but they have always been the result of natural phenomena. They have the property of preventing heat radiated from the earth’s surface from escaping into space, and therefore maintain the earth at a suitable temperature for life to exist. This is what is known as the “Greenhouse Effect”.
Since the industrial era began, the use of petroleum or carbon based energy sources has led to an increase in the concentration of the gas CO2 in the atmosphere, increasing the efficiency of the greenhouse effect, producing global warming, and, as all the signs show, a climate change.
The FICOBA Foundation aims to reduce its environmental impact by reducing its CO2 emissions. Firstly, by implementing measures for energy efficiency and savings, and secondly by offsetting the CO2 emissions generated by FICOBA’s own activity. With this aim in mind, FICOBA has contacted the company CERO CO2 in order to calculate and subsequently compensate their CO2 emissions into the atmosphere.
FICOBA will take responsibility for its own direct emissions and those generated by all external agents who organise or participate in its events. The ultimate aim is for the events organised at FICOBA to be CO2-neutral. To disseminate our efforts to neutralise the emission of greenhouse effect gases, we have designed a stamp/logo to mark the events which, with the aid of the CERO CO2, we consider to be CO2-neutral. |
